- Obituary*: The obituary for Rebecca Leach reads: "Mrs Rebecca Frew, relict of the late Mr Alexander Frew, died a few days ago at the residence in Bousfield St, Wallsend, of Mr Cecil Quayle, her son-in-law. She was a native of Tasmania, but was brought to this district by her parents at a very young age, and passed the greater part of her life in Wallsend. She was married in Newcastle. For nearly forty years Mrs Frew was engaged with her husband in the hotel trade. During the whole of the period in which she was engaged in business, Mrs Frew assisted with the refreshment booths at Newcastle, Wallsend and Boolaroo racecourses, her husband being constantly successful in securing the booth rights. She is survived by four sons and six daughters: Mr Robert Frew (Lambton), Mr W. Frew (Sydney), Mr Alex Frew (Sydney), Mr T. Frew (Casino), Mrs C. Price (Lambton), Mrs W. Wilkinson and Mrs Rebecca Elkins (Barnsley) and Mrs S. E. Cramp, Mrs H. Herd and Mrs C. Quayle (Wallsend). Grandchildren number twenty five. There are fivegreat grandchildren. Mr Ellis Leach, of Wallsend, is the only surviving member of Mrs Frew's family. Mr Arthur Sinclair, of Ourimbah, is a step-brother.
The officiating minister on the occasion of the funeral to Presbyterian Cemetery Wallsend was Rev. D. Finlayson. Messrs Ellis, Thomas and John Leach (nephews) and Mr L. Smith acted as pall-bearers. Floral tributes were received on behalf of the following: Bob and Bella, Nellie and Sid and family, Annie, Beck, Lizzie and Tom, Jean and Cecil and little Cecil, Maggie and Harry and boys, Ellis and Ann and family, Maisie and Elsie, Mr and Mrs Malcolm McLeod, senr, Mr and Mrs J. D. Davies, Mr and Mrs Bert Robson, Gladys and Ellis Leach, Mr and Mrs Lidbury and family, Mrs J. Mills, Emmie and Frank, Arthur and Ellen Sinclair."
