THURSDAY, the 28th and 29th of March last, all my HORSES, in very fat and first-rate condition, were maliciously DRIVEN AWAY or STOLEN from out of my bush paddock, all the fencing and slip panels of which were strong and secure on the Wednesday afternoon, when the said horses were shut in, and which were found in the same state and all up in place the next morning, when they were not to be found, and search having been made around and enquiries made to no purpose, I hereby offer a REWARD of £50 STERLING (security being lodged at the Braidwood Oriental Bank) for such evidence publicly as will lead to the apprehension mid conviction of the thief or thieves. Having resided here upwards of eighteen years, and having invariably honestly paid my way and in debt to no-one, with a wife and eight children, 240 acres of fenced-in land, and only one cow and calf of my own left with myself, unfortunately blinded for the last twelve years, I feel myself persecuted and ill used ever since I have been here. As several of my cattle have from time to time disappeared from my paddocks and never been recovered again, and as sundry annoyances and thefts have been repeatedly practised upon me day and night which could not have been by any for goer, my suspicion strongly falls on a near unneighbourly neighbour of big butcher and racing pretensions, who has ever done his best to vilify my character, and who many years ago threatened that, he would "stick to me" so long as ever I had a four-footed "baste," and cursing me to my face, said that he would never rest satisfied till he saw me and my children begging at his door. So much for Protestant persecution or Van dolism in the Australian Alps. I hereby appeal to"all good Christians for their sympathy on my behalf. Fellow Scots and Anglicans be up and stirring.

incident occurred at the farm of Mr. William Jennings, of Durran Durra. Not far from the house there are 3 yards adjoining each other, in the first one of which were a number of sheep
put in for the night, in the next the calves were shut, and in the end one to the eastward was a favorite mare which Mr. Jennings rides as a hack. Close to the fence of the last mentioned
yard stands a very large gum tree. The lightening struck within a yard of this tree, knocked down the fence, and sent the mare against the rails upon the opposite side. Tho most extraordinary part of if is that the tree which would
naturally be supposed to attract the lightning was not touched, neither were the sheep nor calves, whilst the mare had one side of her head stripped of hair and one eye injured."
