He also was the father of the game of bowls in Queensland, and founded the Queensland Bowling Association, of which he was the first president. The deceased gentleman was of a retiring disposition, and although he never took an active part in public matters, he always showed the keenest interest in the progress of Brisbane and the development of the State. The deceased leaves a grown up family of three sons, and four daughters."8
