[FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT,]
Wednesday.
Mr. W. J. Lyne, Premier of New South Wales, arrived by the S.S. Pateena to-day on a visit to his father, who resides in this city. He was met at the steamer by the Premier (Hon. N. E. Lewis), the Mayor (Mr. E. H. Panton), and the Town Clerk (Mr. C. W. Rocher), and formally welcomed to Tasmania. Mr. Lyne's visit is purely unofficial.
Mr. Carmichael Lyne announces that he will be a candidate for the Ringarooma electorate. He has done so in answer to a requisition from theo electors. The latest addition to the city candidates is Mr. J. S. Clemons, a well-known solicitor and mining man. He has not definitely decided to stand, but would do so were a good requisition presented to him.
